About Me

I am excited to share that I recently became a certified running coach through ISSA. I am so pumped about the opportunity that I have been given to share my experience and passion with others. I am incredibly grateful for the relationship that I have developed with the sport of running and here's a little bit about why I have decided to take on this professional journey.

I first began running as a teenager. I would participate in my town's road races and casually would run on my own time. Eventually, I joined my high school cross country and track teams which further cemented my passion for the sport. Keep in mind I was just a teenage kid looking for things to keep me busy and in shape and I thought that running would do it. I knew I loved it then, but looking back I realize how much I didn't know!

Fast forward to the year 2021. This is when I would say my relationship with running changed and has become what it is today. Life became hectic following a pandemic. A lot of us were looking for ways to cope with the changes that the pandemic brought on. I had not been running much at this time, however in June 2021 that began to change. I remember deciding to go for a jog in my neighborhood one day. It was not a pretty jog. In fact, the two mile journey included some walk breaks, lots of heavy breaths, and some negative self-doubt that I couldn't really ever be a runner again.

Well since that time, here are a few things I have accomplished as a runner. I have completed 3 marathons since October 2022. I have run countless 5Ks and close to a handful of half marathons. I have learned so much more about the sport of running that have helped me do these things. Not only did the knowledge I have gained help me complete marathons and endurance races, but it helped me do so while getting faster and stronger. Running isn't just about lacing up the sneakers and going out into the streets as fast as you can until you are too tired to continue. Running isn't about being the fastest person all of the time. It is about so much more! Running is a complicated science that has so many layers to it. It is about understanding how nutrition, mentality, stretching, heart rate, strength training, rest and recovery among other things all play a role in your performance. Over the past few years, I have enhanced my understanding of the sport. One important phrase I have heard many times is "In order to go fast, you have to go slow". This is so true and is something I encourage all my distance and endurance runners to understand. I can help you understand how slow running not only makes the sport more enjoyable, but it also is crucial if you want to get faster.  There is a time and a place for the speedwork and for showing off your stats on social media, etc. But I am here to help you understand all the other things that are important that we cannot forget if we want to get the most out of our goals and stay healthy.

If you would like to hear more about my experience and think I might be able to help, simply give me a call or send me an email. I look forward to hearing from you.
